Why should you not steam clean carpets?

Carpets are known to be very demanding, and they need extra care as well as extra attention when it comes to cleaning them from time to time to make sure you lead a healthy life ahead. 

You can even clean the carpet using the method called carbonating cleaner, in which a machine is used to cover the carpet with microscopic carbonated bubbles to clean it from deep within. 

The bubbles will then keep on getting deep inside the carpet, and this will trigger the carbonation process to happen, which will attract all the dust and dirt inside of the bubble. 

Then it is cleaned away with a solution of water and then left to dry so that the remaining bubbles will get washed away and your carpet will be as good as new and dry in 1 – 2 hours. 

There is another process called steam cleaning that should not be done on the carpet because this makes use of the bucket of hot water that is soapy and is mixed with a chemical. 

This water is then kept under the carpet for some time. Then after the water gets cold, the water is then used on the carpet to get rid of any dust or dirt that the process has caught. 

This will tend to leave a soapy layer on top of the carpet that will usually attract more and more dirt towards itself and will also leave moisture at the bottom of the carpet. 

Here are some of the reasons why you should never attempt to clean your carpet while using the steam cleaning method because it has a very severe effect. 

The carpet steamers make use of soapy carpet, which gets rid of the odor but does not penetrate deep down into the carpet to clean it. 

The chemical used in this process is of high PH, and it is likely to degrade the quality of the fiber that is used to make the carpet and remove its shine and texture. 

It takes a huge amount of water to clean, so it will take more time to dry up, and this will allow more and more dirt to stick on the carpet in the meantime. 

The harsh chemicals stay back in the carpet even after the cleaning is done and can be harmful to your family and pets. This is why you should tell the local carpet cleaners or the professionals not to use this method.
